The WWRF Fellows Scheme was established to recognize and honour outstanding individuals for their significant accomplishments in the advancement or application of mobile and wireless technology and application and for their contributions to the mission of the WWRF:  To advance mobile and wireless research and innovation and promote the mobile and wireless community worldwide. WWRF looks to the Fellows for guidance as the world of mobile and wireless technology continues to evolve.

Dr Martin Cooper

WWRF has the pleasure to appoint Mr Martin Cooper as a fellow of the Wireless World Research Forum, in recognition of his personal contribution to the Wireless World.

In particular Mr Cooper is widely recognised as the inventor of the truly portable mobile phone, from which our wireless world has developed.

He has a strong association with the founding of WWRF. When the time was ripe, he recognised it and took the initiative to call for the first meeting.

In addition to his research as Director of the Centre for Telecommunications Research at Kings College London, he has founded a number of important conferences to bring the wireless research community together.

As the Alcatel-Lucent Professor of Flexible Radio at Supélec in Paris, he has made significant advances in the theory and application of wireless communications.
