Wireless World Research Forum

Welcome to WWRF’s website! Here you can find background information on the Forum, major outputs such as our white papers, details of future meetings, and a guide to joining the Forum. Non-members can contribute to, and participate in, our meetings. Members have (via password) access to the latest documentation from the working groups and Forum meetings, and benefit from reduced attendance fees at the meetings.

We are developing a common global vision for the future of wireless to drive research and standardization. In addition to influencing regional and national research programmes (such as the European Union’s FP7 programme), WWRF members contribute to the work done within the ITU, UMTS Forum, ETSI, 3GPP, 3GPP2, IETF, and other relevant bodies regarding commercial and standardisation issues derived from the research work.

The Forum is unique in bringing together industry and academia from across the globe, with a strong focus on emerging economies. Members discuss how new insights will affect network implementation, services, applications and value chains in the future. It provides a unique networking opportunity, and I strongly urge you to become a part of it, by attending our meetings, contributing to the work on the working groups, and by joining the Forum.

Your feedback is always welcome, as we strive to provide the best possible service to our members and the wider research community.

NEWS FROM LIAISONS

WWRF has signed a ‘Letter of Intent’ with GISFI, the Global ICT Standardization Forum for India. WWRF Chairman Prof. Nigel Jefferies said, “This is an important step for us in establishing closer collaboration with important regional standards-development organizations such as GISFI. India is a fast-growing and important market with huge potential for innovation, and the local wireless research community is already active in WWRF. This agreement will enable us to develop stronger links and ensure that the requirements and opportunities in India are taken fully into account in our activities.’ The photo shows the WWRF Treasurer Vino Vinodrai witnessing the signature by Prof. Ramjee Prasad, Founding Chairman of GISFI.
